Potluck #49 Love of Languages

1. LiveMocha- I have used LiveMocha, but did not investigate it thoroughly. For this exercise, I made some flashcards, which I had not done. I also submitted four sentences for Extra Practice that described in Spanish my last vacation (these were VERY basic sentences!).

I can see that there is more to use on LiveMocha and I was glad for the chance to explore more.

2. Mango Languages- I also have used Mango Languages. I had not used the translator, so I typed in the same four sentences that I had submitted to LiveMocha (also using the translator there) and the translation in Mango Languages was only slightly different.

I do not like Mango as well as LiveMocha. I agree with the comment on iHCPL that it goes too slowly. Also, it annoyed me when they plugged their own product in about the fourth lesson. One good aspect is that it gives a lot of speaking/hearing practice.

3. I did not know about the Wikipedia textbooks to learn a language. That is a good resource to know about.

4. I could use all of the above resources in assisting patrons who are wanting to learn a language.
